We arrived at our next stop this afternoon. We are at Indio, CA. This is near Palm Springs. We will be here 6 days and actually move about 30 miles to the next resort. The weather here is much warmer than when we were at Corona, CA. The highs are to be in the mid 70's to low 80's. We can handle that.
As you can see with the next pictures it was a beautiful drive. We are staying in a nice campground. Should be a nice and relaxing day tomorrow. I told Bob that it was good we had to stay a couple days longer at the last campground. By having the cold/snowy weather in the area it made the mountains look so pretty. If we had left before the snow they wouldn't have been quite so pretty.

These two pictures were taken during the beautiful drive through these mountains. The sign going into them said that we (vehicles pulling trailer, RV's, trucks) had to stay in the right lane and do not pass. I am disappointed with the reflection on the windowshield, didn't know that piece of paper was there.

Well, this is as close as we want to get to snow. We went away yesterday, later afternoon, but didn't see the snow on the mountains. We believe we are looking at the San Gabriel Mountains. They are beautiful. I'm sure we will see other great pictures of snow on the mountain tops tomorrow on our way to our next Campground.
We had quite a surprised today. We received a phone call from the State Police Post at home. They, Monroe County Sheriff Department, believe they have caught the horrible people that broke into our garage this past October. They want us to come to Monroe Sheriff Department when we get home to identify the stuff they have. They have a lot of stuff that has been stolen from many residences. They don't have a problem with us being away and it will be awhile before we can be there. Such good news. Hopefully they have some of our stuff.
So we head out to Indio, CA tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing another area.

The snow didn't fall here at this area, we really didn't think it would snow here. We did get a little sleet late morning. California did get excited to have the snow. I believe they said San Franciso hadn't gotten any snow in 30 years. We are near the LA area. Mainly around here the snow fell as low as 1000 to 1500 ft. Last night we heard one of the mountains got 30" and another got 45" of snow.
Last night we went out for dinner and to the show "Hall Pass". It was a very funny adult movie - LOL.

Well big decision this morning. We are suppose to leave here on Saturday to go to Banning, CA. This is located 3500 ft into the mountains. With the possibilty of snow (down to 1000 to 1500 ft) and cold weather for California we decided not to travel on Saturday.
We had to do some shuffling of our reservations. This is normally hard to do with so many RV's and our membership campgrounds has a lot of members. But we were able to do some changes. We are staying in Corona until Monday.

Thursday, Feburary 24, 2011 -- We had a very good day with Jack & Charlyn. They use to live next door to Laura on Willis Road. They moved out here this past summer and we have missed them as neighbors. We were really surprised when we got their Christmas Card and found out they lived about 40 miles from where one of our stops.
We had a great time with them today. Besides the pictures that you can see. We went to lunch with them at Huntington Beach out on a pier. What a nice restaurant and with it being out at the end of pier we had a great view of the ocean. The beaches are huge, couldn't believe how far the beach is from the shore to the water. They had volleyball nets set up all over the beach. There was young men playing volley ball on the beach and people surfing too. Charlyn said they have many volleyball tournaments.
Thank you Charlyn & Jack for the tour of your area. We really enjoyed ourself.

This is a picture of the traffic on Route 91 as we were returning from Charlyn & Jack's. We were in the Carpool Lane. Yes, there is a total of seven lanes all going in the same direction. We left there place around 3 in order to be ahead of the traffic. Can you imagine if we'd left around 5. See the yellow lines on the road, when they are evident you can't cross over to that lane.
Wednesday, February 23, 2011 -- What a great day we had today. We enjoyed going to Disneyland today and the following pictures are all taken there.
We didn't leave here until around 9:45 that way we stayed out of work traffic. The drive wasn't bad at all. We were advised to wait until after 8:30 to make the trip. Also not to return until after 7:00 in the evening. Well.... we left at 7:00 and it was an interesting trip. In some places on route 91 there are 7 lanes of traffic. All of them had traffic. We weren't bumper to bumper, but it was heavy traffic. We didn't seem to mind the 7 lanes going to Disney -- the traffic wasn't bad. Thanks to Alice's (gps)help, and Bob's driving we didn't have any trouble.
By staying until after 7 we decided to eat at Disney Downtown. Sounds like far away, but it is just outside of Disneyland. We ate at ESPN Zone. Great place. Enjoyed our meal. We have found this area, not just Disney area, is very expensive.

We were very surprised to see these characters. So the next five pages really don't need any description. Bob & I mentioned we couldn't remember seeing any characters at Florida, but this time we might have been in the right place at the right time.
We didn't stand in line to get our pictures taken with any of the characters. It was just nice to get a pictures of them.

This and the next picture were taken while going through "It's a small world". Such a great thing to see. I can remember it is the same as the one in florida.
We had a small girl behind us that was a joy to listen to. She was so excited to see this. She was naming all the characters she seen. She actually helped us know some of these things. As she'd mention names I would remember that our grandkids when younger would talk about these people.

Yesterday when we left the campground for errands we seen a lovely golf course just around the corner from where we are parked.
This morning Bob called and got us a tee time for 12:45. Little did we know that this course was also up into the mountains. Some awesome views from up there. We took sweatshirts with us, but by 3:30 it was getting very cool. The problem was we were up into the mountains (higher elevation)and it got chilly up there. Then later the sun was going behind the mountain, so it was getting colder then chilly -- for California (not by Michigan standards). LOL
We did have a great time. It was fun to get out and go golfing. The high today was suppose to be 60.
One of the guys golfing ahead of us said he grew up in Detroit. When he graduated from high school he told himself he would never mow lawn or shovel snow again - and he hasn't. LOL

Not much happening today. Stayed in campground until late afternoon.
We went into town, Corona, and with the help of "Alice" we found a CVS and developed the pictures we've taken. This is the second time we have developed a lot of pictures. Bob doesn't think I need a picture of every mountain from the Mississippi River to here. Not quite that bad.
Had dinner and got back about dark.

This picture was taken of the road outside the campground this morning. We left the campground yesterday and it looked like this. When we returned the water had gone down some, not much. But during the night it was raining again. Bob drove out to look at it before hooking onto the trailer. After driving through, which looked like raging water, I asked how deep do you think it was. He said he figured it was probably a foot deep. The problem is the road dips down at this point and the creek is there. All the water we got was coming down from the mountains and passing through.
These next four pictures are on our way from Jamul, CA to Corona, CA. Corona is near Anaheim. There was many beautiful sights during our drive.
Our reservations at the campground are a little messed up. We are settled here but the gate person didn't have our reservations. We will talk with the office tomorrow. Hopefully all will be good.

Well we have reached our last night at this location, Jamul, CA. We will head north from here. We have really enjoyed our time seeing the area. San Diego is a very beautiful city and the things to see here is great. This will probably be the last time we will be here. We did a fine job in seeing this area. Little farther west than what we need to go. Good thing to do, but once is enough.
The last three days we have gotten a lot of rain. Last night it must have rained all night long. Everytime I woke I heard it raining. We went out and around today for a few hours and was surprised to see how the green areas was actually greener (is that a word). It was beautiful on the mountains.
The problem we see now is after leaving the campground we have water over the road time will tell in the morning what it looks like then. (It is raining off & on now). Bob doesn't see it to be a problem. He actually says it will give me something to worry about. GREAT!!!

Friday, February 18, 2011 -- (I'm posting this after 9:00 p.m. so it will date it Saturday, that is why I'm putting the proper date).
Yesterday, we actually didn't do anything. Well I guess that isn't true. We are parked in a non-sewer spot. So after 11 days we had to dump. So that was our activity for the day. LOL
Today, started out the day with doing laundry. Got that done for another week to 10 days. Then we went to a movie. We seen "Just go with it", with Jennifer Aniston & Adam Sandler. This was a great movie, we both laughed a lot.
Ate dinner at a sports bar in El Cajon. Just for information the 'J's' are spoken like 'h'. I really think they should just spell the word that way.
It is raining today and the temperature got to 66 degress this morning before it started raining.

They had predicted rainy weather and cooler temperatures today. We hadn't planned to go anywhere, but around 1:00 we decided to take a drive down a road we hadn't traveled. There was so very pretty areas. It would have been much nicer if we'd had the sun shinning, but it wasn't.
The clouds were low and so some of the tops of the mountains are hidden.
I told Barbara Jean, after our ride around the mountains, that I want a car that is used for drivers training. I really need brakes on my side of the car. Bob is very careful, I just want to help him with the braking around the corners. LOL

Oops wrote about this sign in the next picture.
We had a nice and relaxing day today. During the past week and half, as of today, we have finished all the things to see while here. (Outdoor things anyhow).
They are calling for rain and cooler weather to start tonight. We are ready to have a couple days of down time and really relax. Been a busy time with trying to get everything done.
San Diego is a beautiful place and we have enjoyed our stay here.
Had an interesting time on our way back to trailer this afternoon. There is actually two different way to get to the trailer. But the one we choose was not the best way today.
Came upon an area that they were stopping ALL cars. It was two lane road (paved) at a four corner. No one could go straight through. The person directing traffic was a Border Patrol Person (he said bad accident ahead). After we turned one direction, had Alice off (GPS) we knew where we were going (until they turned us). Talked to a local person out by the road. He said this is probably another case where illegals are trying to outrun the Border Patrol and that causes an accident. There would be 1hr to 1-1/2 hr delay
So we turned on "Alice" and went a different way (local said we could get there that way). Well, after a couple of miles we went into un-paved road bumpy. Really in the back country. Only took 25 minutes to get to camp.
This is the second time we have seen (or heard) of Border Patrol activities. The other time there was numerous Patrol and police cars off the road in a lane. Yes we aren't far from Mexico here.
The outside of the San Diego Mormon Battalion Historic Site.
We never realized why the Mormon's first went west. The Government asked Brigham Young if his men would go west to help fight the Mexican-American War. They were the only religious unit of the United State military in the history.
It was very interesting.
Last night Sheri notified us that a guy she works for, that knows us, suggested if we were in San Diego a eating time to check out a restaurant he likes. So today we stopped there for a mid-day meal. A nice Irish Pub in what is called the Gaslamp District. Really enjoyed the Irish music. We had one of their Signature Meals -- Fish & Chips. Very good. Nice recommendation Wes. Thank you.
