From Wednesday, February 9, 2011 -- We had a very good day on a tour called "San Diego Old Town Trolley Tour". Very informative and great sights. So nice to have Bob able to see the sights and not have to be driving.

Our friends we were with in Winterhaven, CA gave us all kinds of literature and suggestion on what they found interesting. It was a great help. Their suggestion on taking this tour was fantantic.

This is a picture of the trolley we rode on for the tour.

This picture was taken from inside the Trolley.

This is a picture of the San Diego skyline. It was actually taken while on the Corondo Bridge. It is a little out of order in the blog.

This is actually Jerry Lewis's yacht. Our trolley driver said it says Sam's Place. Which we could read. He said it is named after his wife, Samantha. The red dingy on the top of the yacht is named Jerry's Place. That sounds fair, LOL

What a beautiful area. I was here when I talked to Laura. I told her how warm the sun was today. She informed me that we had different suns, because Michigan's wasn't warm.

There was so many huge yacht's. Very pretty area.

We went to eat lunch at the "San Diego Hard Rock Cafe". Had a nice lunch. Our waitress was so very nice. She was from New Jersey and after taking our order came back to sit with us and visit. Young girl that went to college in LA and finally decided to make the west her home. She did go home for Christmas and got caught up in the delated fights during the bad snow at Christmas time.

I guess I got my picture taken while looking at all the things on the wall. Everywhere you look you can see something interesting.

The ceiling at Hard Rock.

This is the beginning of the Coronado Bridge.

This is the Coronado Bridge, going from San Diego to Coronado Island. At it's highest point it is 252 feet above the water. Beautiful bridge. This bridge had to be built that high in order to get the ships in and out fo San Diego ports. The Navy was against building this bridge. (I read they were against it because if this bridge was bombed then the navy ships would be all trapped in the port at San Diego. So they made the bridge so it would float.

As we were going on the bridge the driver of the trolley made the comment --- We haven't talked about the earthquakes that can happen in San Diego. I don't think I wanted to hear that.

This is the front view of the Hotel Del Coronado. More on this after a couple of pictures.

Beautiful waves. Bob & I walked down to the water with our shoes off and let the sand get between ours toes. The funny part today was I called my sister, she is at Cocoa Beach, Flordia. I was hoping that she was on the beach, but she said she was earlier in the day. The three hours differences makes that she would be there earlier than me. But interesting that we were both on ocean beaches at opposition sides of the USA.

This picture is taken of Hotel Del Coronado at Coronado Island. They say the movie "Some like it hot" was filmed from this hotel. Marilyn Monroe starred in that movie.

Actually this hotel was the first hotel to have lights west of New York City. There wasn't any fresh water on the Island, but the builder was able to have lights with the help of generators. Of course the hotel wasn't as large as it is today.

This is on our way back from San Diego to campground.
Tuesday, February 8, 2011 -- A very uneventful day. We washed clothes, 5 loads at the campground. It takes awhile at the campgrounds because you kinda have to share machines. But it worked out fine. I have a fantantic husband because he helps do them too.
From Monday, February 7, 2011 -- What a great day at Sea World. We actually bought a two day ticket so we will go one more day. I believe it was only $10.00 more to do the two day ticket, if printed from home. Plans are to go tomorrow for our second day.

Years ago we took the girls to Sea World near Cleveland, then the four of us took Mom & Dad Winkle, we were there a while ago in Orlando, and now San Diego. I never get tired of seeing these shows.

This was the end of the show.

This pictures were taken after numerous times where the whale made a pass by these seats. I should have taken the picture when the show started, because it had a lot of people sitting there until they took many different baths.

Note the spray of water. These whales are pros at spraying the audience. They tell you with signs and announce that the rows 1 - 16 was "wet zone". No I didn't sit in those rows.

He was waving to the audience.

They are huge.

This picture was taken for TJ to see the diving board at Shamu Stadium. A picture is so hard to tell how high in the air the diving board is, but I think he can get a idea with this picture.

High wire acts were done here too.

He swam to this point with the ball balanced on his nose, but when he jumped the rope he lost the ball.

This was the seal show at Sea World. They are talented seals.

Here are the Sea Lions at Sea World. What a life!!!
From Sunday, February 6, 2011 --- We traveled from Winterhaven, CA to Jamul, CA. This was a beautiful drive on Route 8. Lots and lots of mountain area. I have to make myself NOT take pictures.

We were glad to get here and realize that the truck was fixed and did a great job. We knew we wouldn't know for sure until we put the truck to test on mountain roads. We got parked in the campground. Only problem is that we have these huge mountains all the way around the campground so we don't have cell phones, and didn't have computer until today(Thursday).

They told us in our literature that to watch your small dogs because they have coyotes. (Who doesn't have coyotes?) The first night was fine. The second night we had TV on and I said to Bob that it sounds like sirens. He turned the TV down and said -- Those are coyotes. OMG they are eeried too.

We were expecting the possibility of winds. So he said after awhile I'm going out and get the small rugs outside. Oh great, no further than the doorway -- those coyotes may be near by. LOL

This is just west of Winterhaven, CA. It is the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational Area. The four wheelers run all over these sand dunes. This is a stretch of sand dunes that runs north and south across route 8.

This is where I started the praying for our truck. This climb showed us our repairs we had to have done at Winterhaven/Yuma worked. The sign at this point was warning in the next 10 miles a steady climb. It appeared by signs that it was 4100 ft in 10 miles. Beautiful mountains and the way they positioned the roadway.

Climbing the mountain.

Such great views of the mountains. We will make our way to this bridge too.

Last picture of this big climb we did up the hill.
